Today, GetAFreelancer stands as one of the top freelancing sites
in the world with a huge global presence. Close to 600 projects
are posted every 24 hours on this site and thousands of people bid
on these projects each day. The projects are posted in various categories,
which is one of the most exhaustive lists among freelance sites.
One of the main draws of GetAFreelancer is its low costs. People
who post projects do it for free (there is a $5 refundable fee)
and the fees for withdrawing funds are quite low as well. There
are various withdrawal options, the most popular of which is the
Payoneer debit card, which is used all over the world. Millions
of people trust GetAFreelancer for its streamlined services and
the large volume of work it always deals with. ScriptLance is older than GetAFreelancer but unlike the latter
it hasn’t evolved as rapidly. One of the reasons is the high
fees it charges. You could post and obtain work for free here, but
if you want to become a member it is a steep fee per month. The
customer service is slow and withdrawal of money takes an inordinately
long time. But, on the brighter side, it has a large number of people
posting projects each day and bidding as well. It is one of the
pioneers of the escrow system (which other sites including GetAFreelancer
emulated later) in which people who post projects keep money in
escrow for the professionals they have chosen. Once the job is completed,
these escrowed funds are released. eLance is popular among US outsourcers because it is a US-based
site. It is somewhat like the grand daddy of all freelancing websites
because of its stricter rules. There is a test that you need to
pass in order to have any chance of obtaining work. This test is
based on eLance’s own guidelines. However, people don’t
mind doing that because the projects posted here are for huge sums
of money and are almost permanent employments. Project details on
eLance are much more detailed than on other sites and bidding needs
to be detailed too. This prohibits spam bidding, which is soon becoming
the bane of sites such as GetAFreelancer and ScriptLance, with people
making generic bids on all projects that interest them. EUFreelance is GetAFreelancer’s sister concern and the only
difference here is that it is Europe-based. This is a very new freelance
site and it still has a lot of teething problems. But because it
piggybacks on the popularity of GetAFreelancer, which is immense,
it has got a great start. GetAFreelancer even advertised EUFreelance
on its homepage for a long time. The transaction here is in Euros.
For people who are based in Europe, this is a wonderful freelance
site because of the reduced costs. Also, when the conversion is
taken into account, the site becomes more lucrative for freelancers
because the Euro is dearer than the US dollar in the world market.
RentACoder has a presence of its own, but it is not a huge freelancing
site. The basic premise is the same, but this site is more for coders
and developers than for people who are looking for copywriting and
data entry jobs. In fact, most of these niches don’t exist
on RentACoder as it targets a technical clientele. If you have technical
qualifications, this could be a great site to make some good money
from. Even at the other end of the spectrum, from the employer’s
end, this is a good site because they can be sure of getting qualified
professionals. There is an escrow system to secure both parties. See Previous : The Benefits of Outsourcing. Why Should you Outsource? |
